Bristol Fourth of July Longest Traveled Award

Each year the Bristol Fourth of July Committee seeks the individual who has traveled the longest distance to return to Bristol for our Annual Bristol Fourth of July Celebration. Anyone interested in entering the Longest Traveled contest should read the requirements and then download the Longest Traveled Form and return it to Donna St. Angelo, P.O. Box 814, Bristol, RI 02809.

  • All applications must be mailed to Donna St. Angelo, Subcommittee Chairman, P.O. Box 814, Bristol, RI 02809 .
  • Deadline for receipt of application is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2012.
  • Applicant must have resided in Bristol for a minimum of five (5) years (does not have to be consecutive) and cannot be a current resident. Residence is subject to verification by the Committee.
  • In case of a tie, the application submitted the earliest would prevail.
  • Winner will be notified by telephone on or about June 30, 2012.
  • A United States Flag, which has flown over the Capitol in Washington, D.C., will be presented to the winner at Patriotic Exercises on Monday, July 4, 2012.

NEWS/UPDATES

PARKING/STREET CLOSINGS

Parking is basically anywhere you can find it. Large lots are open to the public at the corner of Hope and Gooding. Avoid Mt. Hope High School, as the parade forms there are participants will be parking there. If you are parking on residential streets, please be sure to avoid blocking driveways. Police will ticket.


Various surrounding streets will be closed off beginning at 8:00 a.m., including Poppasquash Road. Chestnut Street, Naomi Street and Sherry Avenue will be close to traffic at 7:00 a.m.. A parking ban along the parade route goes into effect the night before the parade.
