The Annual Fourth of July Celebration, established in 1785, is the oldest continuous celebration of its kind in the United
States. In keeping with that long standing tradition of honoring our nations independence, the Bristol Fourth of July
Committee establishes its mission a means by which we can carry out mandate to have a patriotic observance in Bristol,
Rhode Island that can best exemplify our National Heritage.
The Purpose of this Committee is to formulate, prepare and carry out all plans for the Annual Fourth of July Celebration. All members of the Committee are volunteers. The presiding Chairperson for the 2008/2009 Celebration is David A. Burns. The Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will step-off at the corner of Chestnut Street
and Hope Street (Rt. 114) and ends on High Street, between State Street and Bradford Street.
Various surrounding streets will be closed off beginning at 8:00 a.m., including Poppasquash Road. Chestnut Street, Naomi Street, and Sherry Avenue will be close to traffic at 7:00 a.m.. A parking ban along the parade route goes into effect the night before the parade. The Parade Chairman for the 2008/2009 Parade is Judy Squires.
Drum & Bugle Corps Competition - Summer Music Preview
The Bristol Fourth of July Committee is proud to present the 20th Fourth of July Drum and Bugle Corps Competition,
the Summer Music Preview. The Competition has become one the highlights of the Bristol Fourth of July Celebration.
It has grown to become one of the finest competitions, featuring top Drum and Bugle Corps from the United States
and Canada.

Official Souvenirs. The Official Souvenirs will be sold in the Committee's Souvenir Trailer at local vendors and all of the
concerts downtown beginning in June!!
Watch the Parade on WLNE/ABC6
WLNE-TV/ABC6 will once again carry the Bristol Fourth of July Parade on Saturday, July 4, 2009. Hosted by WLNE-TV/ABC6’s
Allison Alexander, John DeLuca, Paul Mueller and Fred Campagna. WLNE/ABC 6 will telecast the entire parade live to the
entire Providence – New Bedford television area. WLNE-TV / ABC6 with produce the Fourth of July Parade in spectacular
High Definition.
